The Preventive Program

Good oral hygiene is essential to your dental and overall health and well-being. Our preventative care program is designed to preserve your teeth by preventing the onset, progress, and recurrence of dental disease.

We recommend regular professional dental cleanings to remove plaque and tartar buildup from teeth, especially from places where your toothbrush can't reach, like underneath the gum line and in-between teeth. An integral part of our preventive program for pediatric patients includes periodic fluoride treatments and the application of dental sealants. Additional preventive services may be recommended for individual patients with specific needs.

Digital x-rays utilize cutting edge computer technology to obtain crystal clear images that allows for more acute diagnosis of dental problems that might otherwise go unnoticed. Advantages over the older traditional film based methods include less exposure to radiation, patient can view their images instantly, and it is also safer for the environment as they do not require any chemicals or paper to develop.

Night Guards

Chronic jaw clenching can be caused by many things such as stress, anxiety, sleep disorders and even abnormal bites due to missing or poorly aligned teeth. This occurs mainly at night and often causes people to wake up with symptoms such as jaw pain, headaches, and sore muscles and teeth that may feel loose.

Night guards are custom made for each patient and fit over the teeth to keep the jaws slightly apart, thereby relieving the symptoms of teeth grinding. A properly designed and fitted night guard may even help patients get a better night’s sleep.

Sports Mouthguards

Every year millions of cases of dental and facial injuries occur as the result of sport-related trauma. One way to significantly reduce the risk of damage to your teeth, cheeks, lips, tongue, face, or jaw as the result of a sports-related injury is to wear a mouthguard. There are three types: pre-formed/ready to wear, boil and bite, and custom mouthguards made by your dentist. While the first two choices offer some level of protection, the best and most comfortable are the ones individually designed and customized by the dentist. Our office will help you to select just the right sports mouthguard to protect your smile.

Treatment of Gum Disease

Gum disease damages the surrounding tissue and bone that support the teeth. It is mainly caused by bacteria and tartar that sit between the teeth and the gums. It can range from a simple gum inflammation, known as gingivitis, to a more serious inflammation known as periodontitis, which if left untreated can result in bad breath, bleed gums and eventual tooth loss.

Unfortunately, the progression of gum disease is often painless and hard to identify without a professional examination. This is why it is so important to get regular checkups to recognize and correct it early to prevent permanent damage.
